Meet Your Social Worker
Hi, I'm Aran — a Registered Social Worker based in Victoria, BC. I started Woven Within because I believe that when people feel truly heard, something real shifts. Whether you're navigating anxiety, grief, a big life change, or just a quiet sense that something is off, I'd love to help you make sense of it. No judgment, no formula — just honest work, at a pace that feels right for you.
What We Do
It all begins with a conversation. Whether seeking support for yourself, your child, or family, counselling provides a space to explore challenges, build understanding, and create meaningful change.
Woven Within Counselling
The name comes from a simple idea — that our thoughts, relationships, and experiences don't exist in isolation. They're woven together, shaping how we see ourselves and move through the world. Sometimes a thread pulls tight and everything feels harder to carry. Therapy is a chance to slow down, look at the weave, and figure out what needs to shift.
Sessions are collaborative, unhurried, and tailored to you. Whether you're coming in with something specific or just a feeling you can't quite name yet, there's room for it here.

Questions? Here are some common ones.
-
A consultation is a brief, no-obligation meeting to determine if therapy is the right fit. It provides an opportunity to ask questions, learn about the approach used in sessions, and discuss your needs before committing to ongoing therapy.
-
The first step is booking a 15-minute consultation. We'll discuss what's bringing you to therapy, what you're hoping to get out of it, and whether we feel like a good match. If we decide to move forward, your first full session will focus on getting to know you and your goals more deeply. From there, we'll build a personalized plan together — one that evolves as your needs change.
-
A few things that will help you get the most out of your sessions:
Find a quiet, private space where you can speak freely (for virtual sessions)
Arrive on time so you have the full session available to you
Come with an open mind and a willingness to engage in the process
Consistency matters — regular attendance supports steady progress
Be prepared for between-session work, such as reflections or practical exercises to apply in daily life
-
Yes, everything you share is confidential. There are a few legal exceptions worth knowing about — if there is a serious risk of harm to yourself or someone else, if there is reason to believe a child is being abused or neglected, or if a court order requires disclosure. These exceptions will always be discussed with you whenever possible.

Session fees are $150 for a 60-minute session and $200 for a 90-minute session. Payment is required at the time of each session, and an invoice will be issued following each appointment for submission to your insurance provider for reimbursement. Direct billing is not available at this time.
Coverage for counselling services provided by a Registered Social Worker (RSW) varies depending on your extended health benefits plan. It is recommended that you contact your insurance provider directly to confirm whether your plan includes coverage for counselling or psychotherapy services delivered by an RSW. Additionally, the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) recognizes Social Work as a health profession, and counselling services provided by an RSW may be eligible to be claimed as a medical expense on your income tax return. RSW-provided clinical services are also GST-exempt in British Columbia.

Sessions can be booked online through Jane App or by emailing info@wovenwithincounselling.com. New clients are encouraged to start with a consultation before booking a full session. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please provide at least 24 hours notice to avoid a cancellation fee. I offer in-person sessions in Victoria, BC and virtual sessions for clients across British Columbia and Ontario.

A good therapeutic relationship means feeling comfortable, heard, and respected — not judged or told what to do. If at any point it doesn't feel right, that's okay. Finding the right fit matters more than sticking with someone out of obligation, and I'd rather you find the support that works for you than stay somewhere that doesn't.

In British Columbia, there are several regulated mental health professionals you may come across, including Registered Social Workers (RSW), Registered Clinical Counsellors (RCC), and Psychologists. The differences largely come down to educational background and training pathway, but all are qualified to provide therapy and counselling support. As a Registered Social Worker, my training is rooted in a holistic, person-centred approach that considers how relationships, environment, and lived experience shape mental health. What matters most in therapy is not the title — it's the fit, the relationship, and the work you do together.
